Really nice poetry, mostly themed on war, sacrifice, national pride, and travel. Newbolt was hired to promote the "war effort" at home in England, so some of the poems are kind of cheesy.His poetry is very English—has a healthy dose of 8/7 rhythm, striking language, and redemption of dark situations. I had to read a lot of war poetry in college, but this is much better than any of the stuff I read back then.

well crafted, exciting and, no doubt not politically up to the mark but then the past is another country
